In accordance with Law No. (2) for the year 2005, and its amendments , concerning the establishment of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and providing it with powers to issue regulations, legislations and regulatory decisions to ensure safety and quality of food displayed or provided for human consumption and to protect human from the risks associated with the consumption of such food ,and on the basis of ADFCA strategic plan that aims to ensure food safety by cooperation and communication with local and regional stake holders and international authorities ; policy and regulations sector is mainly concerned in appropriate and continuous development of policies and legislation in the field of agriculture and food safety ,aiming to the development of a legislative infrastructure, that leads to regulating the activities of trading of food through all stages of the food chain, and protect the health of the consumer at the same time ensuring transparency, fairness and institutional organizational work and clarifying the role of control authority and the responsibility of the private sector. The sector also to subject these policies and legislation for analysis, review and update to comply with the agenda policy of the Government of Abu Dhabi in order to raise the level of the organizational relationship with all relevant local and federal entities to achieve the desired objectives and improve the quality of services provided in accordance with best international standards. The sector also to restructure the control systems within the authority through the design and development of risk based inspection systems in the sectors of both food, agricultural, in line with the latest international practices in the field of food safety in order to improve the quality of life for individuals balancing between consumer protection and trade facilitation.
