ADFCA’s Auwn Initiative organizes 12 social service activities last year

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has organized 12 activities last year under its social service arm- Auwn Initiative, in which 830 employees volunteered and benefitting to many, hailing from various sections of society. The activities aimed to better the situations of needy sections and to raise the living condition of the society in general reflected ADFCA's commitment towards social and cultural values of the UAE and the community development and social service policies of Abu Dhabi government.

One of the interesting activity included in the bouquet of Auwn programs was the orphan students' visit to Abu Dhabi International Book Festival which was organized by ADFCA in collaboration with Red Crescent. During this report period, Auwn organized blood donation camps in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain coordinating with Abu Dhabi Central Blood Bank under the SEHA which witnessed huge participation among employees. During last Ramadan, ADFCA organized Mir Ramadan program for workers in Al Ain, coordinating with Red Crescent and Zayed House of Islamic Culture. In another program, organized in connection with Zayed Humanitarian Day, The Auwn team organized a special Iftar party for new Muslims at Mafraq Hotel. A medical camp for employees was also organized under the Auwn Initiative last year.

Being part of its social service plan, ADFCA participated in the "Elderly Services Forum 2016" organized by Sharjah Department of Social Service in collaboration with World Health Organization and presented papers under the theme- Towards Age-friendly Cities. Also, a team of employees visited Zayed Higher Organization on International Day for Older Persons last year in order to give old inmates care and to entertain them with gifts and games. In another activity, ADFCA organized a special program on service to aged people at its headquarters in MBZ City in which the participants were enlightened about the importance of giving care to the aged citizens and on how can they contribute in the service programs to deliver happiness to a big section of the society.

Another activity that was included in ADFCA's community service activities was the program to visit children under cancer treatment at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain. During this program, employees who volunteered in the activity met each and every child patients and gave away gifts and entertained them with various fun activities.

Last year, ADFCA financially supported activities and workshops conducted by Rashid Center for Disabled being part of its community services.

Auwn volunteers actively participated in the cleanup programs held in the adjacent areas of hay centers in Al Ain organized by the Materials Management Division of ADFCA in collaboration with Al Dhahera holding company.

In another interesting community service program, female ADFCA employees prepared food from their home and sold it out at the Agriculture Oasis pavilion of Sheikh Zayed Festival to raise fund for various charity and humanitarian activities. The program which carried the name Charity Dish became a popular program in the festival with the huge participation from the visitors and the variety of food products displayed for sale in a festive atmosphere.

It is noted that being the social service arm of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, Auwn Initiative has contributed much in achieving organization's community service goals and to promote and channelize volunteer spirit among the employees. Through various activities, it created platforms for those who are interested in working for social and humanitarian causes which in turn became the reason for solace and happiness to many in the society who are in need of special attention and care.
